Environmental and Economic Sustainability of Essential Oil Production Chains

In this presentation, I intend to highlight what in my opinion are the critical sustainability points in the essential oil production chain, and to propose some possible solutions. If I were to isolate the most important aspect that need to be improved upon, I’d mention: the exploitation of endangered species, environmental sustainability of wild collection, the carbon footprint of distillation, circular economy and the reduction of waste, social sustainability and social equity in developing countries.
